CRC's Internet Serices provide a standard UNIX-based system, from which you have full access to the Internet. In addition to all of the usual UNIX features, we provide additional software packages to make using the Internet easier for the new user. The Internet Gateway provides access to the following features, among others: * electronic mail - send and receive mail all across the world-wide Internet * USENET newsgroups - access to thousands of USENET newsgroups through a variety of packages * telnet - direct text connections to all publicly-available Internet sites * FTP - access to hundreds of file archives across the world, containing millions of programs, games, images, sounds, and data * IRC - use the Internet Relay Chat system to talk in real-time to Internet users around the world on hundreds of different topics * the World Wide Web - text-based exploration of the World Wide Web, including easy downloading of Web data, pictures, and sounds * gopher, hytelnet, WAIS - the ability to search gopherspace across the Internet, as well as accessing Hytelnet and WAIS databases for documents and data * SLIP - connectivity directly to your PC to allow use of graphical interfaces that make navigating the Internet as easy as pointing and clicking with the mouse Each customer is given an individual account space, including a unique Internet electronic mail address and the ability to upload and download files between Concentric Network and the local system, whether that is home, business, or educational. The Internet Gateway also features an on-line hypertext help system, with explanations of the major packages, and provides documentation which can be read or downloaded, covering a variety of topics.
